The Art Retreat in Costa Brava, Spain

This special retreat is the perfect way to enjoy a balance of creativity with leisurely excursions. The Art Retreat in Lloret de Mar includes a day excursion to the old town (fortress), beach and on the last evening all the group will go out for sailing.
Walking around the old town will entice you with its many picturesque vistas and painting opportunities.

We begin this wonderful art retreat by saying at our beautiful accommodation in Costa Brava, which is within walking distance of the beach. Your accommodation is amazing, with beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms, a refreshing pool with sea views, and a cook to give us some mouth-watering Mediterranean and Catalan cuisine. There are spacious covered outside areas in which to paint as well as interior spaces.
During the art retreat, we will mostly paint out in the mornings and possibly later in the day so participants can come and go as their work allows. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided at the hotel during the stay.
We can’t think of any better way to end a creative day than with a dip in the pool, a glass or two of Spanish wine accompanied with a great company.
My Story
I am Ala, I am an artist and sketch illustrator. I finished Fine Arts School, 5 years of study. I specialised in watercolors, graphic drawing and oil painting.
From 2020 I am an art teacher. In June 2020, I started my online experience in painting with red wine. During the art retreat we will be painting with this wonderful medium as well. What you will learn:
This Art Retreat is for people of all levels of experience in the arts. You will have 3h each morning and each evening in workshops with like minded participants from many different countries.
You will learn how to:
- Use practical and fun techniques to jumpstart your creativity and keep it soaring
- Find new sources and mediums of inspiration all around you
- Blast through your creative blocks with my unique exercises in drawing, painting in watercolors, painting in wine, painting in coffee…
- Learn new things of art history, and because this special art retreat will take place in Costa Brava, we will talk about the famoust artists as are Salvador Dalí, Picasso and obviously Gaudi
- You will enjoy painting in groups, learning new skills and fulfill your inner soul with beautiful landscapes of Costa Brava

Join Ala Lopatniov widely known as Red Wine painting teacher on an adventurous week of painting in the spectacular Roger de Flor Seleqtta Hotel in Costa Brava, Spain. Share experiences of laughter, connection, and artistic growth, and give yourself time to develop your skills away from everyday stresses. Enjoy having everything taken care of while you focus on your creativity and the joy of painting alongside your favorite artist.
At the retreat, you’ll learn:

Day 1: Arrival
At 8pm will be our official opening time.
All the day you have time to arrive to the hotel and rest in your private room, or you can enjoy the spectacular property on your own.

Day 2: Art classes at the venue
Enjoy a delicious breakfast shared with the group, then join Ala for the first art class of the day. The first day will be spent exploring new mediums, monochromatic ones, and to get used, before starting with more complex works.
You will be painting with red wine and coffee mediums. And will understand more about highlights and shadows.
After lunch, we’ll have a lovely class of art history.
Take some time in the afternoon to socialize with the art group, relax by the pool or go for a walk. In the evening, join Ala and the group for talks, questions, answers.

Day 3 : Hiking and painting class
After breakfast, hike to the medieval hilltop Castle of Sant Joan both Catalan Gothic and modernist architecture. Get inspired by breathtaking panoramic views to the Mediterranean sea.
Once returned and after the lunch, head to your painting class on the premises based on the inspiration you gathered on the hike, you will be painting in watercolors a sea view.
In the evening, gather with Ala and group for a delicious dinner.

Day 4: Art classes at the venue
After breakfast, join Ala for the first class of the day. Now that you’ve loosened up and practiced the art color and composition, you’ll add a more complex structure. We’ll spend the day experimenting with unique and intentional compositions with a variety of focus points.
After the lunch, join Ala on painting class to learn how to build complex scenes by building elements from the primary focus, middleground, and detail, and translate the beautiful scene on the page.
In the afternoon take some time to sunbathe by swimming pool, go to the beach and later gather with the whole group and Ala for talks.

Day 5. Art history and Neurographic drawings
Enjoy breakfast and then join Ala for a looong art history class with interesting moments, questions, answers
After the lunch, join Ala to draw some Neurographic drawings, Ala will show you the rules and how this is related to connection to your inner self. By the end, each of you will have a beautiful drawing made on her own.
Later of the day you will have time to enjoy the time together.

Day 6: Art classes and sailing
Enjoy breakfast with the grouo and begin your last learning day at the retreat.
During these classes you are free to decide on which medium you want to paint and Ala will provide lots of references you want to choose within. Ala will guide each of you in the process of drawing and will help you with the medium and reference you have chosen.
After the lunch, will be a sailing activity, and you will enjoy the sea from a sailboat.
Later in the day, we’ll celebrate our accomplishments, will have a farewell dinner with ala and the group.

Day 7: Departure
The morning will be dedicated to departure. You will enjoy your last moments at the retreat venue and will catch up with transfers to the Airport
